Since the improvement of people's living standards, water bottles are becoming diversified. Many of them are printed with pretty patterns, a name, or a logo and used as gifts or advertising items. Bottles sale from the fitness center, school opening gifts, or company anniversary souvenirs is the most popular event that clients asked to customize water bottles. How to personalize water bottles? How to develop branded water bottles? Let's explore Golmate's printing technique!
We master ten main printing techniques: painting, powder painting, dyeing printing, water transfer printing, digital printing, heat transfer printing, electroplate, silk screen printing, laser, and etching.
Painting & Powder Printing: Commonly applied on the exterior of water bottles as the base color. Painting is spraying pigments evenly on the bottle with a spray gun, while powder printing is a method of spraying plastic powder with the static magnetic field. Generally speaking, painting is more decorative and saves time, while powder painting has stronger adhesion.
Electroplate: It also refers to UV Printing, a commercial printing process that uses ultraviolet curing technology. The printing process involves special inks that will dry fast when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light.
Dyeing Printing: Also known as Full Color-Air Transfer technology. It requires special printing oil and specially coated translucent transfer paper. Facilities will penetrate and mix them with the background color and finally present the pattern.
Water Transfer Printing: Also known as immersion printing, which allows patterns and designs to be applied to any shaped objects. Any bottle items that can hold a base coat and be safely submerged in water can be dipped. Simply clean the bottle, buff it, and apply a base coat. After that, dip it (applying the pattern), rinse, dry, and clear the coat.
Heat Transfer Printing: Also known as full color. It applies the sublimation technique, in which heat and pressure are applied to a solid, turning it into a gas through an endothermic reaction without passing through the liquid phase. The final result of this process is a nearly permanent, high-resolution, full-color print. Because the dyes are infused into the substrate at the molecular level, rather than applied at a topical level (such as screen printing and direct to garment printing), the prints will not crack, fade or peel from the substrate under normal conditions.
Silk Screen Printing: Screen printing is a printing method that transfers the ink through the perforations of the stencil to the substrate through pressure. It requires a plate with holes as a mode to transfer ink onto the bottle with pressure. Screen printing is more suitable for spot color printing. This is because each color is printed on a different screen. Once the first color dries, the next one is added, and so on. As a result, there could be a slight shift in alignment, and your logo could look slightly off.
Digital Printing: As the name suggests, it is the process of printing digital-based images directly onto a variety of media substrates. There is no need for a printing plate.
Laser: This is typically done for aluminum or stainless steel options, resulting in a design that looks etched into the metal material rather than popping off as it would with other decoration methods.
The great benefit over more traditional methods, as it's removed the abrasion damage that was historically often being left on materials. Instead, only the portion that the laser is targeting will be vaporized, and the surrounding area is left untouched.
Etching: Etching is traditionally the process of using strong acid or mordant to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio (incised) in the metal. (Reference: Wikipedia)
